Those of you familiar with our blog know that recently there has been a lot of talk about the Analog Discovery 2. Well that happens to be because there is a lot to talk about. The Analog Discovery 2 is a USB device that can replace a whole slew of benchtop instruments. With a quick download and install of WaveForms 2015 you have access to an oscilloscope, waveform generator, power supplies, data logger, logic analyzer, pattern generator, static I/O, network analyzer, spectrum analyzer and script editor. With so much to talk about we decided that it deserves it’s own site, and with that I’m excited to announce that analogdiscovery.com is live!
Analogdiscovery.com features everything a new user might need to get to know the Analog Discovery 2. The front page features the Analog Discovery 2 in its natural habitat, a busy workstation. It also contains a menu bar across the top that links to four important pages: Buy, Download, Quick Start, and Support. We’ll go through each of those later.
One scroll down on the page reveals a hardware walk around. Here you can expand text bubbles to see what features the Analog Discovery 2 contains.
Another scroll down reveals the software walkaround. You can of course download WaveForms 2015 for free to try it out. But now you can use the software walk around to see each of the tools on the Analog Discovery 2. Click on each button and a video will start of someone “clicking around” in WaveForms 2015.
The Quick Start button opens the Quick start guide. Here you can set up your Analog Discovery 2 in 4 steps. Each step can be expanded for more detail.
If you expand Step 3: Install WaveForms 2015, you can see three tabs. One tab for each operating system. The first tab shows Installation instructions for Windows.
The next tab shows installation instructions for Mac users.
The last tab shows installation instructions for Linux users.
The Downloads button on the menu bar goes to a simple menu screen. Click on your operating system, and the download will immediately start.
The last tab, but possibly the most important tab for many users, is the Support tab. At the top of the support page are tutorials on installation, and each of the tools.
The buttons for each tutorial link to the tutorials on the Digilent Wiki. The Digilent Wiki is home to all of our documentation.
One scroll down on the support page gets you to the FAQ. Here you’ll find commonly asked questions about the Analog Discovery 2. These include questions on before you buy, general questions, WaveForms 2015, and troubleshooting.
