FIRST Robotics Competition Season is Here!

It’s the beginning of March, and that means the FIRST Robotics Competition Season is in full swing!

We are excitedly preparing for our first-time appearance at the FIRST World Championships.

The World Championships are hosted April 17-20 in Houston, and a week later April 24-27 in Detroit. It’s a four-day robotics championship that includes four competitions: The FIRST Robotics Competition, FIRST Tech Challenge, FIRST Lego League and FIRST Lego League Junior.

This year, Digilent will be attending and hosting a booth in the service section!

Our booth will be staffed by our applications engineers (we all love robots) and have supplies for teams to troubleshoot robots (including wires, shrink wrap, soldering irons, and extra DMC60 motor controllers). We will also be helping perform measurements that cannot be performed with a digital multimeter, using the Analog Discovery 2. We will be able to help with troubleshooting unpredictable sensors, checking for noise that is hurting the design, checking wires that you can’t see easily, monitoring the battery voltages over time, and checking your CAN/PWM signals to and from your motor controller. The booth will also have a few fun giveaways, like sticker sheets, to decorate your robot!

Good luck with the FRC teams competing in regionals, we hope to see you at the World Championships!

About Miranda Hansen

I enjoy creative writing, engineering, thinking, building, exploring and sharing with people. Huge aficionado of spending time thinking about things that “don’t matter.” I am very interested in unconstrained creativity. I love cross-discipline ideas and all of their integration into complete original systems. And I like things that do things.
