MakerSpace at Digilent

One of the exciting things at Digilent is the implantation of our very own MakerSpace.

A Makerspace is a learning environment rich with possibilities. As new hardware and software tools for making, digital design, and fabrication are emerging, we’re working together — with teachers and community leaders — to place those tools into the hands of a wider audience. We’re building the infrastructure for more kids and adults to connect to a future in which they can personally change, modify or “hack” the physical world, creating things that were nearly impossible to do on their own just a few years ago. Making is about getting hands-on, using these new technologies and basic tools, to do real and personally meaningful work. –

At Digilent, our mission is to create more engineers.  It’s our president’s common phrase, “Engineers are Makers”– so it only makes sense that we would offer a place where people can come together and learn, create, tinker and make.

With a clear vision, products that we could easily jump start… all we needed was a space. Which luckily we were able to find quickly– an underutilized part of our building!

Digilent MakerSpace- Before

We will be taking this cube farm, rearranging the office space… in a few months this will be a MakerSpace!

It’s in this space that we will have a space to tinker and work on our projects and will also offer trainings for those who want to learn and create. We’ve already booked events on the calendar such as, paper circuits, Lego EV3 hacking, basic PCB Layout, and Learning Microcontrollers with the chipKIT! We’re excited about what kind of things that are to come!

If you are interested in finding out more, what’s on our calendar or want to get involved, let us know by signing up for our Digilent MakerSpace news.
