Analog Discovery 2 Used in Stanford University Medical Research

Using Analog Discovery 2 to test MRIs

In December of last year, Stanford’s Neerav Dixit, John Pauly, and Grieg Scott published a paper on thermo-acoustic ultrasound (TAUS) for noninvasive temperature monitoring. So why are we excited about it? Because they did it with the help of the Analog Discovery 2, that’s why! Our little multi-instrument wonder was used as a waveform generator – specifically square-wave-modulated RF, and as an oscilloscope. Ultimately, TAUS acquisitions could be added to MRI sequences to provide real-time device safety information that allows more patients to have access to MRI. Fascinating stuff from the medical world.
